How to Handle College Stress

When I first entered college, I received a packet of information and in this packet of information was a paper on ways to deal with Stress. In this blog, I decided that I would summarize that paper and then scan it and attach the links to this blog so you guys could look at it. This paper on the first side talks about what stress is. They define stress as our mental, physical, emotional, and behavioral reactions to any perceived demands or threats. They also list a few negative effects of stress including: impair our relationships, and feeling burnt out.

The next section discusses ways to reduce stress. They suggest: finding a support system, changing your attitude, be realistic, getting organized,  taking breaks, taking good care of yourself, learn to say “no”, exercise, have a hobby, slow down, laugh, and learning to relax. All of these things are discussed further in the copy of the document. The last section of the paper talks about relaxation techniques. These all are great solutions to dealing with stress.

Remember, as you deal with college stress, there are more techniques than what I discussed. These a just a few ways that you can handle stress. Remember to laugh, and take in the experience for what it is. College will have its stressful moments, but its a lot of fun as well.

  1. Hi! You have a nice blog, very cheery wallpaper! :)

I’m studying psychology and stress is very current topic there nowadays.

Have you heard about positive stress? I myself feel that if there is not ANY stress or pressure, I’m not doing my best. So I need a little bit stress for the best results.

Still I agree with you, college live shouldn’t be too hard. Maybe everyone should find their own balance.

    • Thanks for the comment about my wallpaper! I love it. I agree that stress is very current. Everybody is trying to find different ways to handle it. Yes, I have heard of positive stress. I agree with you that if I don’t have that, then I accomplish nothing. Everyone needs to find what works for them!

  2. Hi! Your topic is really important. The tips how to reduce stress are very useful, thanks! I still have two horribly stressful weeks before the Christmas holiday begins. I think for me the hardest one is to remember to relax and I should learn to say no.
Oh, and in my opinion too the wallpaper is great!

    • Marlen’s classes are some of the most difficult, but most rewarding experiences. Take everything he teaches you in and use it to the best of your ability. His classes are difficult but so worth it. They help motivate you for everything else you could potentially go through in college life. Work hard; it pays off!
